Why is it that so many Christian denominations have no problem with belief in the mystery of the Trinity yet fail in faith to accept the words of Jesus regarding the mystery of the Eucharist? It is by far the most challenging belief in Christianity and was so even in Christ's day.
As described in the gospel of St. John "many of His disciples left Jesus when He told the multitude that they would have to eat His Flesh and drink His Blood to have eternal life. Christ wanted to make sure that His own apostles believed in the Real Presence. That is why He asked them if they too, wanted to leave Him." But it was Peter who gave the correct answer. "He told Jesus that the apostles also did not comprehend this mystery, but they relied on Christ's words because they believed that Jesus is the living God who can neither deceive or be deceived." Fr John A. Hardon, S.J. Catechism on the Real Presence.
Christianity needs the authority of Christ's Church because as demonstrated in the last 500 years-- left to itself the human mind goes wild in it's interpretation of God's word. This is seen in the fact that "Martin Luther who had been a priest for fifteen years, broke with the Catholic Church on October 31, 1517. By the year 1600, there were over 200 Protestant interpretations of Christ's words, "this is my body ...this is my blood." ibid .
The wise words of the Saints prove the intense faith required to believe Jesus difficult words on the Eucharist:
St John Chrysostom warned the faithful about questioning the mysteries of the Eucharist: "Let us submit to God in all things and not contradict him, even if what he says seems contrary to our reason and intellect; rather, let his words Read More...
The dissolution and rejection of absolute truth is precisely due to the disunity of Christianity and the creation of personal religion. Over the last 500+ years we have accepted the notion that everyone is free to create their own version of Christ, Christianity and ultimately their own truth. As a result we now as a culture, lack standing to condemn those who personally and sincerely believe they possess the fullness of truth but in reality lack Christ who is truth. To condemn personal religion and thereby false religion would amount to a condemnation of what the West itself has become.
Recent Catholic convert, Magdi Allam, recently asserted that it is relativism that has caused the growth of Islam in the West. CHURCH OF ENGLAND BISHOP CONDEMNED BY HIS OWN FOR ADVOCATING THE CONVERSION OF MUSLIMS TO CHRISTIANITY
From the Telegraph: "The Rt Rev Stephen Lowe, the former Bishop of Hulme and the newly appointed Bishop of Urban Life and Faith, said: "Both the Bishop of Rochester's reported comments and the synod private members' motion show no sensitivity to the need for good inter-faith relations. Christians, Jews, Muslims, Hindus and Sikhs are learning to respect one another's paths to God and to live in harmony. This demand for the evangelisation of people of other faiths contributes nothing to our communities."
A Church of England spokesman added: "We have a mission-focused Christian presence in every community, including those where there are a large number of Muslims. That engagement is based on the provisions of Article 9 of the European Convention on Human Read More...
Scotland has become more Roman Catholic than Protestant. Scotland's Roman Catholic congregations now outnumber the Church of Scotland for the first time since records began. This in a Nation that once hunted down priests for the crime of saying the Mass. Although it is certain that God will one day avenge the blood of the martyrs, it is nevertheless nice to see temporal justice.
From Scotland on Sunday: "Figures compiled by the independent group Christian Research reveal that in 2005 the number of Catholics who went to Mass surpassed those who attended Church of Scotland services."
"The change is due to the huge numbers of Catholic Polish immigrants who are boosting church attendance, raising numbers by some 50,000 people since the last time figures were published in 2002."
This calls to mind a wonderful outspoken Scottish martyr of the Reformation, John Ogilvie, who made it his mission to restore the Catholic Faith to Scotland.
He was born into a respected Calvinist family in Keith, Banffshire c. 1579. He was exposed to the religious controversies of his day and became impressed with the faith of the martyrs. He decided to become a Catholic Read More...

The U.K. has approved animal-human embryos. This is as much science as wicca is religion. Science lost its bearings when it dismissed truth from its consideration.

Science no longer seeks to "discover" in light of truth or even for the sake of "goodness". Instead it creates its own reality in defiance of truth and justifies its diabolical creations with the utilitarian notion that the end justifies the means. When will liberals learn that when they attempt to adapt Christianity to the culture they will fail miserably, and always end up looking absurd to youth. It is precisely the counter-cultural message of Jesus that is attractive to young people who are immersed in a culture of hedonism and nihilism.
"The Rev Andrew Myers, vicar at St Aidan’s in Leeds, attended the course and said that he would use Doctor Who in future sermons.
The Rt Rev Tony Porter, Bishop of Sherwood, said it was vital that clergy adapt to the culture around them.
"And the people will be like the priest..."(Isaiah 24:2)--it is no wonder that so many are perishing when their foolish leaders have altered Christ's message to fit in with the world.
Interestingly, Darwin himself was baptised an Anglican but was greatly influenced by his mother's Unitarianism. As he became immersed in his theory of evolution he lost his faith entirely.
"Expelled" masterfully outlines large scientific gaps in the theory of evolution, and documents multiple examples of the "scientific" community closing ranks behind any who dare hypothesize "intelligent design" as a possible theoretical course of inquiry. The film documents the scientific community's rabid fear of anything that could remotely remind one of Creationism, even when many intelligent design proponents have no religious designs or biases in examining the failure of Darwinism to scientifically explain elements such as the beginning of carbon-based life and random mutation.
Darwinism, like all errors, has and continues to bring about the destruction of Civilization. As Ben Stein's movie points out, the Nazis were big fans of Darwin and exterminated millions of "undesirables" in their eugenics program. There is no dispute even among Darwinists that abortion and euthanasia are more readily accepted by those who believe that man is a mere accident of nature rather than a creation of God.
Needless to say the prophetic day has arrived when "people [do] not endure sound doctrine but having itching ears they...in accordance with their own desires, accumulate teachers for themselves and...turn away their ears from the truth and stray off after fictions." 2 Timothy 4:3
I recommend this movie.
I believe this to be true despite the abysmal shape of American culture. Our world has shrunk due to the internet and globalization, and now faces problems and questions which are unprecedented historically, and often involve the very survival of civilization as we know it. The world needs a voice to counter the lies of the culture of death and the religion of death--Islam.
No single Protestant denomination --no matter how large, no matter how influential-- can match the voice and authority that the Pope possesses when he speaks. No Protestant denomination no matter how orthodox or conservative in their interpretation of scripture, can match the ability to identify and enunciate the Truth as that of the Catholic Church-- which has made it her business to seek and decipher God's truths for 2007 years. It is indeed the only voice remaining in the wilderness that possesses the full truth and delivers it in all of its unpopularity. This is of course no accident since the Catholic Church is the only Church that possesses Jesus Himself --in the Eucharist.

Rome, 2 April (AKI) - Polygamous marriages are illegal in Italy yet are reportedly on the rise. While few Muslim immigrants or Italian converts to Islam admit such unions, Muslim scholars put the number nationwide at 15,000-20,000, La Repubblica daily reports.

Islam is winning Western converts due to the nihilism and emptiness of our consumerist and hedonistic Western lifestyle. People who long to rebel against our pervasive and sick culture seek meaning and a radically new lifestyle that sets them apart. But rather than see devout Catholics who truly live their faith (and who are native to Europe)--they see Islam. Our apostasy has its consequences.
Rega has thoroughly researched Francis and stands on firm ground in his telling of the story of Francis and his attempt to convert the Sultan. The famous meeting begins when Francis accompanies the crusaders to Damietta, Egypt with the goal of having a private audience with Sultan al-Malik al-Kamil who was the Islamic ruler of Egypt.
Prior to the battle of Damietta, Francis received a prophetic vision that the crusaders would lose the battle. He hesitatingly revealed his vision which was dismissed. The battle went forward, and the crusaders lost.
The crusaders losses were many. As one chronicler wrote--John the Baptist gained many companions that day due to the great many beheadings. "This horror befell about fifty horsemen, of the Knights Templar, thirty of the Germans, and over twenty Hospitallers."
Remarkably it was the loss at Damietta that gave St Francis the opportunity to finally meet the Sultan face to face in an attempt to convert him to the Christian faith.
St Francis sought permission to enter the camp of the Sultan from the Papal Legate who was hesitant to grant permission since al Kamil had reportedly stated that "anyone who brought him the head of a Christian should be awarded with Byzantine gold pieces". Eventually when confronted with the insistence and persistence of St Francis, the Papal legate allowed Francis and one companion, Brother Illuminato, to go into the Muslim camp.

So many today are blinded by relativism and religious indifferentism and are willing to lump a religion that seeks to dominate and destroy the West with the religion that founded Western Civilization. Much effort has gone into answering this. Muslim apologists are quick to point out Christians have also committed violence. Secularists suggest anybody who believes in God is prone to violence, conveniently ignoring the atheistic killings of the French Revolution, Stalin's purges and Mao Tse-tung's Cultural Revolution.
In an attempt to uncover motivations, founders of the world's two largest religions can be compared. According to the http://www.CIA.gov World Factbook, the world's 6.5 billion people are 33.32 percent Christian and 21.01 percent Muslim.

Just a reminder of the infallible teaching of the Catholic Church at the Council of Florence in 1438:
"The Most Holy Roman Church firmly believes, professes and preaches that none of those existing outside the Catholic Church, not only pagans, but also Jews, heretics, and schismatics can ever be partakers of eternal life, but that they are to go into the eternal fire 'which was prepared for the devil and his angels,' (Mat. 25:41) unless before death they are joined with Her; and that so important is the unity of this Ecclesiastical Body, that only those remaining within this unity can profit from the sacraments of the Church unto salvation, and that they alone can receive an eternal recompense for their fasts, alms deeds and other works of Christian piety and duties of a Christian soldier. No one, let his alms giving be as great as it may, no one, even if he pour out his blood for the Name of Christ, can be saved unless they abide within the bosom and unity of the Catholic Church."
Maybe if we took seriously these words and stopped explaining away and undermining this infallible and unchangeable teaching we would not be in the current state of mass apostasy from the Faith throughout the West.

Why has the celebration of the birth of Christ been adulterated to such an extent that we act as if we are deserving of so much more materially than He had on His day of birth?

A recent article focusing on the return to tradition in all religions appeared in U.S. News and World Report. It seems that it is not just Catholicism that is returning to tradition-- every major religion is undergoing "a return to tradition and orthodoxy, to past practices, observances, and customary ways of worshiping".
One could have guessed that this would eventually take place since the last 50 years have seen Christianity stripped of all mystery tradition and even orthodoxy. From Catholicism, to the store front inner city Baptist church, to the mega churches that resemble stadiums, we see a "Starbucks effect" where Christianity has became homogenized. The focus has been on feelings and emotions of congregants rather than the sacrifice of Jesus.
But the generation that ushered in the fad of barren and individualistic Christianity is aging and its rebellion against tradition seems like nothing more than an ugly trend to the younger generations. This elderly generation however will not concede loss quietly...

While the world grapples with the depths of sin and darkness, God is pouring His grace upon the earth to restore and transform His Church. It is the only thing that is capable of transforming the world from a death seeking suicidal culture to one that reveres light, life and truth. The last 50 years have seen the Bride of Christ beaten down by scandals, divisions, and disobedience-- leaving her often-times beyond recognition. But the tide has turned. The truth in all its splendor is irresistable in dark days. And the truth contained in the Latin Mass will be a beacon in the world where nothing remains sacred and everything is empty and mundane.
ZENIT recently conducted an interview with David Hartline, author of "The Tide is Turning Toward Catholicism".
"Instead of turning away from the faith and embracing the relativism of society, more and more youths are actually embracing the teachings of the Church, says Catholic author David Hartline."
"Many have asked me since the release of my book earlier this year if this tide of good news will continue or if it just a temporary cause for joy.
"The answer is that this tide continues to gather strength. Good news is abounding in the Church."
"When the young gravitated toward Pope John Paul II," said Hartline, "many skeptics said this was only temporary. When Cardinal Ratzinger was elected Pontiff, many said the young would leave.
"However, just Read More...
The town of Wittenberg Germany where Martin Luther nailed his 95 theses to the door of the Castle Church has undergone enormous changes including what some may call the curse of atheism. From chicagotribune:
"The wooden doors of Castle Church were long ago replaced by ones made of bronze, but what comes as a far greater disappointment to Protestant pilgrims, especially those from America, is that only about 15 percent of Wittenberg's inhabitants identify themselves as Christian.
"Most of the others proudly celebrate their atheism.
"We knew that Christianity had taken a hit during communist times, but to come here, to the land of Luther, and to find so many people outside the church, yes, it was a surprise," admitted Stephen Godsall-Myers, a Lutheran pastor from Pennsylvania.
"The situation is even starker when the pilgrims make their way to the town of Eisleben, Luther's birthplace. There, only 8 percent of the population calls itself Christian.
"What theologians and academics describe as the de-Christianization of Europe began more than a century ago, but in eastern Germany the process was greatly accelerated under the communist rule of the former German Democratic Republic."
Yes, Germany suffered through the devastation of communism--but this cannot account for the domination and speed with which atheism has spread in the historical heart of the Reformation and throughout the entire continent. What Germany suffers from is de-Christianization brought on by the Reformation. It is indeed the Reformation itself that has led to the devastation of faith and the growth Read More...
Here is a very interesting article from the Times Online about Pope Benedict and his ambitious commitment to reform and liberation of the Latin liturgy. This, despite attempts from many bishops including those in England and Wales to halt the reform. It seems his pontificate is having a tremendous impact on many break-away groups including the conservative Traditional Anglican Communion.
"Two and a half years after the name "Josephum" came booming down from the balcony of St Peter's, making liberal Catholics weep with rage, Pope Benedict XVI is revealing his programme of reform. And it is breathtakingly ambitious.
The 80-year-old Pontiff is planning a purification of the Roman liturgy in which decades of trendy innovations will be swept away. This recovery of the sacred is intended to draw Catholics closer to the Orthodox and ultimately to heal the 1,000 year Great Schism. But it is also designed to attract vast numbers of conservative Anglicans, who will be offered the protection of the Holy Father if they covert en masse.
The liberal cardinals don't like the sound of it at all.

We all heard how the King of Saudi Arabia visited the Pope this past week and that the Pope expressed his grief over the discrimination of Christian minorities in Muslim lands. But what most of us do not know is that the two exchanged gifts--Pope Benedict XVI gave the Saudi monarch an old painting of the Vatican while the king's gift to the pontiff was a sword.
Excerpts From newyorksun.com: "As a gift from from a leading Islamic fundamentalist nation, a sword is about as clear a symbol of intolerance as there can be; and indeed, swords are used for public decapitations in Saudi Arabia on Fridays. The U.S. State Department's yearly human rights report cites Saudi Arabia for bigotry toward non-Muslims, including "harassment, abuse, and even killings at the hands of the Muttawa (religious police)."
"The newspaper L'Osservatore Romano said the Vatican hoped the meeting with the Saudi king would produce a frank dialogue Read More...
Take time to watch this music video--pay close attention to the lyrics. The song was voted song of the year by the Quebec public.
From globeandmail.com: "The song – whose title is a play on words that evokes both history and decline – was originally rejected by radio stations when it was released in 2004. Programmers thought its preachy tone praising great-great-grandfathers for clearing the land, and dissing their descendants for selling it off to become civil servants, would not fly with listeners. They thought the song's glorification of great-great-grandmothers with 14 kids, and its contempt for young women who today cover up their “stupidities” by getting an abortion, was definitely not Top 40 material.

Here is a talk given by Robert Spencer of Jihad Watch about the next moves of Radical Islam.
If you have ever participated in paintball then you know how effective such training could be for jihad--and right in our own backyard.
From NewsScotsman.com: U.K. An undercover police officer who went paintballing with a gang of suspected extremists was told it was preparation for jihad, a court heard yesterday.
The agent described how up to 25 young men travelled from east London for a day of outdoor activities in Berkshire.
But the officer told Woolwich Crown Court the alleged ringleader of the group, Mohammed Hamid, 50, quickly revealed the trip's true purpose.
The man, known as Dawood, said: "He told us the training was in preparation for jihad."
Five men are on trial accused of plotting to stage terrorist training camps at various UK locations. They deny the offences and the trial continues.
Since July, when a decree from Pope Benedict XVI lifted decades-old restrictions on celebrating the Tridentine Mass, seven churches in the Washington metropolitan area have added the liturgy to their weekly Sunday schedules.
"I love the Latin Mass," said Audrey Kunkel, 20, of Cincinnati. "It"s amazing to think that I"m attending the same Mass that has formed saints throughout the centuries."
In contrast to the New Order Mass, which has been in use since the Second Vatican Council in 1969 and is typically celebrated in vernacular languages such as English, the Tridentine Mass is "contemplative, mysterious, sacred, transcendent, and [younger people are] drawn to it," said the Rev. Franklyn McAfee, pastor of St. John the Beloved in McLean. "Gregorian chant is the opposite of rap, and I believe this is a refreshing change for them."
Susan Gibbs, the director of communications from the Archdiocese of Washington, said the attraction demonstrated by the young adults is "very interesting."

The time has come to cease the talk that the Christian walk is easy, and that heaven awaits all despite their works. The time has come to stop compromising Christ's message for the sake of human respect-- because in the end anything less than the truth is not persuasive.

The liberal media gushed at the so called "unprecedented letter of peace" from Islam to Christians. But to those who actually read it and understand the critical differences between Islam and Christianity-- the letter was at best a sham and more likely a threat to Christians. The letter began with the following damming preface which defined the terms of negotiation at the outset:
"In the Holy Qur’an, God Most High enjoins Muslims to issue the following call to Christians (and Jews—the People of the Scripture):
Say: O People of the Scripture! Come to a common word between us and you: that we shall worship none but God, and that we shall ascribe no partner unto Him, and that none of us shall take others for lords beside God. And if they turn away, then say: Bear witness that we are they who have surrendered (unto Him). (Aal ‘Imran 3:64)"
Rather than an offer of peace it amounts to a threat--the only way peace can be obtained is to bow down and worship Allah. All negotiations naturally cease when Christ's divinity is denied, and

From Israeltoday: "In an interview with a local Arabic-language newspaper, Sheikh Kamal Khatib, deputy head of northern Israel's Islamic Movement, insisted that the world is "on the threshold of a new era. The future belongs to Islam and the Muslims."
Khatib said that in preparation for the coming Islamic takeover, Muslims who hold Israeli citizenship like himself should begin to actively rebel against the state by refusing to cooperate with and forming alternatives to the Israeli authorities.
Also at the weekend, Khatib's boss, Sheikh Raed Salah denounced current peace negotiations leading to a two-state solution to the Israeli-Arab conflict as an "evil Israeli scheme." Salah, who is also an Israeli citizen, has long maintained that that Muslim world must not recognize Israel's right to exist."

"To hate no man."
St Benedict, Rule No 4
"No religion is from God which contradicts our sense of right and wrong"
NAPLES, Italy, OCT. 21, 2007 (Compiled from various news sources): Pope Benedict XVI urged the world's religious leaders not to allow God's name to be used to justify violence.
"Faced with a world lacerated by conflicts," the Holy Father said, "where at times violence is justified in the name of God, it is important to re-emphasize that religion can never be a vehicle of hate; never, in the
"The lady doth protest too much, methinks."
William Shakespeare, Hamlet.
The rise of militant atheism actually portends well for the Church. I am hopeful that as a civilization we have finally climbed out of the depths of our lukewarm apathy toward God and have entered a new era where man has become either HOT or COLD for Jesus. It may not bode well in the short term for believers in the wordly sense because the result is persecution. But the battle has begun and this fire will test the sincerity of our faith and ultimately prove the truth of Christianity to Christ's enemies. After all--"it is hard for [atheists] to kick against the goad". Acts 26:14
When an unbeliever becomes angry in discussing the faith it may mean that they are actually closer to conversion than if they display "toleration" and a distant and withdrawn "respect". Toleration reveals one's apathy while intolerance the opposite. Witness how very tolerant so many atheists are of Buddhism, Hinduism or even Islam while they condemn Christianity. In this intolerance lies something very meaningful and mysterious--that at

Compiled from Jurist and Guardian Unlimited: A new law criminalizing the incitement of religious hatred came into effect. The Racial and Religious Hatred Act makes intentionally stirring up hatred against people on religious grounds punishable by a jail sentence of up to seven years.
The act is...seen as an important counter-balance to anti-terror laws which have been viewed as disproportionately targeting Britain's Muslim population.
Critics have argued that the law will undermine the freedom of satirists, comedians and writers, and stifle legitimate discussion about religion and religious practices.
Here we go with more secular legislation aimed at instilling morality in the people. There is no surprise that this state imposed secular morality is arbitrary and capricious. Who will determine what amounts to incitement of religious hate? And what will be the standards? Will a condemnation of the teachings of Mohammed land you in jail? Truth and debate will be stifled in the name of political correctness at a time when Europe needs open and honest talk about Islam and the danger it poses to the continent.
Perpetually splintered Christianity--brought about by the Reformation--has permitted the enemies of Christianity a profound advantage. When a man who calls himself a Christian can arbitrarily interpret scripture to his liking and scoff at the notion of authority, he is unable to condemn those who do the same outside of scripture. We are a house divided rather than a force to be reckoned with.

Sarkozy explained that such a national rebirth would only be possible through a reform of the French education system. Sarkozy clarified that such a reform must include "rewarding the good, punishing the faults, cultivating an admiration of that which is good, just, beautiful, great, true and profound and [cultivating] a detestation of that which is bad, unjust, ugly, insignificant, untrue, superficial and mediocre. That is how a teacher renders his service to a child in his care."

The U.K. has introduced government sponsored and supported "civics-religion" lessons which teach Western values from the Koran. The Labor government hopes this pilot program in Bradford will eventually spread to other cities, and help "assimilate" and "integrate" the country’s Muslims into British culture. The program is meant to replace the tedious, and hard-core religious lessons now taught in mosques. Those lessons emphasize rote learning of the Koran, and are taught by imams who were born in Pakistan. It is estimated that 100,000 school-age Muslim children attend daily religious classes after school in mosques in Britain.
The program was written by a Bradford teacher, Sajid Hussain, 34, who submitted proposed lesson plans to imams which were ultimately rejected. “They were perhaps a little too frontal,” Hussain said.

Unfortunately, Larijani's criticism is not entirely without merit. Due to the mass apostasy from the Christian Faith in the West, the Vatican and more importantly the Church, has become no more than an old discarded decoration and a vestige of the past. Only when our Faith becomes more than mere decoration, will our eyes be opened to the devastation that Islam poses to our civilization.
'The US cannot by force impose the American way of life on Islamic societies, as democracy on the basis of secularism would not work (in the Islamic world)...Islam is not just a decoration in our lives, contrary to the West where the Vatican is decoration,' Ali Larijani, Iran's chief nuclear negotiator, said in a meeting with religious scholars in Tehran.
FP: Why do you think there is so much that the West actually doesn’t know about Islam? Why the impulse to deceive oneself?
Davis:The first is a natural if unwarrantable reluctance to face the very uncomfortable reality that there is an entire civilization seeking our subjugation under nothing less than a totalitarian system of government, i.e., Islamic (Sharia) law.
