"This is holy Church, the one Church, the true Church, the Catholic Church, fighting against all heresies; she can fight but she cannot be conquered. All heresies are expelled from her as if they were dead branches pruned from the vine; she herself however remains fixed in her root, in her vine, in her charity. The gates of hell shall not prevail against her." St Augustine (4th cent)
I wonder what would have happened to this man had he condemned Mohammed as a messenger of Satan?
FROM INDEPENDENT.IE "An unholy row on yesterday's 'Joe Duffy show' began innocently enough, when the chief aide to Nigel Dodds, the North's Enterprise Minister, voiced his objections to the sale of Catholic rosary beads inside St Patrick's [Anglican] Cathedral, in Dublin.
"Wallace Thompson challenged the Anglican Dean of St Patrick's, Dr Robert MacCarthy, for selling rosaries not sanctioned in Holy Scripture, in the cathedral gift shop.
"The Dean explained that the beads were sold because the shop attracted visitors of all denominations, and revenue from the sales helped finance the cathedral's upkeep.
"During an hour-long phone-in, Mr Thompson castigated Read More...

From Daily Express: "Vicars could face up to seven years in jail for simply preaching from the Bible under Government plans to criminalise incitement of homosexual hatred.
Jack Straw yesterday announced proposals similar to the controversial incitement of religious hatred laws to target those who stir up hostility based on sexual orientation.
The Justice Secretary is considering extending any new law to include incitement against transexuals.
Religious groups warned it could lead to preachers being prosecuted for emotionally expressing their firmly-held Read More...
Compiled from Jurist and Guardian Unlimited: A new law criminalizing the incitement of religious hatred came into effect. The Racial and Religious Hatred Act makes intentionally stirring up hatred against people on religious grounds punishable by a jail sentence of up to seven years.
The act is...seen as an important counter-balance to anti-terror laws which have been viewed as disproportionately targeting Britain's Muslim population.
Critics have argued that the law will undermine the freedom of satirists, comedians and writers, and stifle legitimate discussion about religion and religious practices.
Here we go with more secular legislation aimed at instilling morality in the people. There is no surprise that this state imposed secular morality is arbitrary and capricious. Who will determine what amounts to incitement of religious hate? And what will be the standards? Will a condemnation of the teachings of Mohammed land you in jail? Truth and debate will be stifled in the name of political correctness at a time when Europe needs open and honest talk about Islam and the danger it poses to the continent.
Perpetually splintered Christianity--brought about by the Reformation--has permitted the enemies of Christianity a profound advantage. When a man who calls himself a Christian can arbitrarily interpret scripture to his liking and scoff at the notion of authority, he is unable to condemn those who do the same outside of scripture. We are a house divided rather than a force to be reckoned with.
