Council chiefs have confirmed there will be no traditional Christ-mas light switch-on in Oxford this year, but instead revellers will be greeted with a 25-metre high mobile of lanterns in the shape of the solar system.
A city council spokesman confirmed this year’s event would be called the “Winter Light Festival” to include all religious denominations.
Shoppers on the streets of Oxford criticised the decision to cut out the word Christmas and called for a return to tradition.

It is understood that more than £1bn has been earmarked for the database."
"The proposal emerged as part of plans to implement an EU directive developed after the 7 July bombings to bring uniformity to record-keeping. Since last October telecoms companies have been required to keep records of phone calls and text messages for 12 months. That requirement is to be extended to internet, email and voice-over-internet use and included in a Communications Data Bill."
Everything seems to be lining up in accordance with the prophecies of scripture and the saints. Terrorism and now the global economic crisis have provided our leaders with an unprecedented opportunity to centralize financial power and to keep watch over us. Nations are even taking an ownership interest in private banks.

If St Malachi's prophecies are accurate-- then time is very short because Pope Benedict will be 81 this year. We must watch, pray and offer penance to God.

SCOTLAND: SHARIA LAW COURTS ARE COMING
From the Scotsman: "Secret talks are under way to bring Islamic sharia law courts to Scotland, The Scotsman has learned.
"Qamar Bhatti, director of the Muslim Arbitration Tribunal (MAT), which runs the courts, admitted discussions were taking place with lawyers and Muslim community groups in Scotland.
"The group is believed to be aiming to set up courts in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
"In September it emerged that five sharia courts, ruling on civil cases from divorce to domestic violence and financial disputes, had been operating for more than a year in London, Birmingham, Bradford, Manchester and at MAT headquarters in Nuneaton, Warwickshire.
"The courts have legal powers, with their decisions enforceable through the county courts or high courts.
"However, concerns have been raised about the establishment of a "dual legal system".
"Women's domestic violence groups have also voiced fears, saying traditional sharia law arbitration is "dangerous and inappropriate" in cases of abuse."
A parallel or dual-legal system which permits Sharia law decisions to have the same force and effect as a Western court will never satisfy the followers of Islam. The goal of Islam is to impose Sharia law throughout the West and bring us all under submission. No culture will survive that believes it can equally co-exist with Islam.

Since 1571 Europe and much of the world have forgotten their history, the Rosary, and indeed the faith. Radical and adversarial Islam is once again marching with hostile forces that are multiplying demographically across Europe in lightning speed, while a sterile and abortion-obsessed Europe commits suicide as it bows helplessly before its indefatigable assailants. Crippled before its arch enemy, post-Christian Europe can only limp along before these monolithic forces of evil because of Europe's own perilous weakness of no longer being unified in its faith, beliefs and culture.
There are different types of evil that plague the world- the worst being moral or spiritual evil. It includes all those who reject God as He truly reveals HIMSELF--through his son Jesus Christ. Since the followers of Islam reject Jesus Christ as the only way to salvation the religion of Islam poses a grave spiritual evil to not only its followers but to the world.

A RESURGENCE OF LATIN AND CLASSICAL EDUCATION

evidence seems to point to the breakdown of
civilization one can nevertheless find a resurgence of
faith and authentic culture in the most unlikely
places.
Here is a New York Times article on the resurgence of Latin which is described as the "language of scholars and educated people"--and I might add the devout. My own father was a latin teacher in a very wealthy public school school system. Parents who wanted their children to become doctors and lawyers demanded the latin language as preparation for higher education. Most in my homeschooling community are also teaching their children latin because it is and always will be the language of the Church.
